"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 1213).

It is an exciting time when parents learn that they are expecting a baby. In accepting this gift from God, they take on the responsibility of training their child in the Catholic Faith. The first step in that formation of their child is to have their child baptized. If you are first-time parents, Fr. John offers a class to explain the Sacrament and what responsibilities you as parents are undertaking as you present your child for Baptism. Call the parish office to schedule a meeting with Fr. John before your baby is born. Babies are to be baptized within the first weeks after birth.
