"Those who approach the sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God's mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 1422)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation, also called Confession or Penance, is offered throughout the week at St. John the Evangelist Parish. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Confessions are heard from 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. immediately following the 7:00 a.m. Mass on those days. Confessions are also heard on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. - 6:10 p.m. immediately prior to the 6:15 p.m. Mass. Confessions are also heard every Saturday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. immediately prior to the Saturday evening Mass at 5:30 p.m. Each penitent is given the opportunity to go to Confession anonymously behind a screen or to receive the Sacrament face-to-face with the priest confessor, who acts in the Person of Jesus Christ who desires to forgive you of your sins.
